As part of the Peak Hour Initiative in Sharjah that pushes for conservation and rational use of resources, employees of the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF ZONE) participated in a 5km-run in Sharjah on 21st April, 2017. The SAIF ZONE team was led by Wafa Balaswad, Marketing Manager. They were also joined by their counterparts in the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) taking the total number of runners to more than 200. instructed by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The run, which had categories for men and women, is one of the many Peak Hour initiatives to come. The initiative aims to promote a culture of conservation and raise awareness regarding rational use of electricity and reducing toxic emissions. Accordingly, people of the emirate are encouraged to shut off all non-essential power consuming devices between 2.30pm to 3.30pm, an hour when demand for electricity increases and loads reach peak levels.

"SAIF ZONE was proud to be part of a noble initiative that aims to raise awareness of rational use of electricity and which also involves all segments of society to contribute towards addressing vital issues," said Wafa Balaswad.

The 'Peak Hour Marathon', organised by SEWA and SAIF ZONE, was made possible in collaboration with the Government of Sharjah Sports Council, Sharjah Municipality and Sharjah Police.
