INDIA TOUR HOLDS IMMENSE PROMISE FOR SAIF ZONE

17/03/2016

Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF ZONE), which recently conducted roadshows across five Indian cities to showcase itself as the industrial powerhouse of the United Arab Emirates, has successfully highlighted Sharjah as an appealing investment destination.

The road shows and business seminars were organized in Delhi, Faridabad, Jalandhar, Chandigarh and Gwalior under the aptly titled theme 'Business Opportunities in SAIF ZONE' and were held in association with The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

"CII has been extending their support to us to organize road shows in India to project the facilities made available by us for setting up manufacturing, assembling, distribution, warehousing, and branch office activities in the UAE," said Saud Al Mazrouei, Director of SAIF ZONE and Hamriyah Free Zone Authority.

"Indians have emerged as important investors within the UAE and India has become an important export destination for the UAE's manufactured goods. India-UAE trade valued at US$180 million per annum in 1970s is estimated to have become $60 billion, making UAE, India's third largest trading partner after China and the United States during 2014-15," Al Mazrouei added.

"Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, SAIF ZONE offers unbeatable trade incentives and benefits to its investors making it the Free Zone of choice. Tax exemptions and its world-class infrastructure make it the premier destination for investment," said Raed Bukhatir, Deputy Director of Business Development of SAIF ZONE, while addressing seminars in different cities.

Facilities at SAIF ZONE range from tax and duty exemptions to getting clearances within 24 hours, multiple license facilities and access to billions of consumers, amongst several others, said Bukhatir while seeking investments from Indian multinationals seeking to tap huge growth opportunity in the UAE. He said due to its strategic location between East and West, UAE had become the gateway to trade in the Middle East – the major trade network connecting Asia with the Mediterranean and North Africa.

Other members of the SAIF ZONE delegation on the India tour included Thomas Joseph, Business development Manager and Jithin Varrier, Business development Officer.

During the roadshow, major industrialists and entrepreneurs showed great interest in expanding their business to the UAE. In recent times, SAIF ZONE has become the biggest rendezvous for 100 per cent FDI in manufacturing, logistics, IT, pharma and other sectors. It has already attracted big players like Infosys and Wipro.
