 SAIF Zone highlights its role as trade hub in Portugal seminar


Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) show-cased its role as a trade hub and gave an overview of the  business opportunities in Sharjah which was held  at AEP Auditorium in Porto and  VIP Grand Lisboa Hotel   in Lisbon.

The  road show, organized by the  SAIF Zone  with the participation of Sharjah Investment &

Development Authority (Shurooq),  provided an excellent chance for investors to know the ongoing business opportunities available in the region and ways to gain connectivity in the regional market.

"The UAE and Portugal enjoy distinguished historic relations and we hope to make progress in the trade relations between the countries by exploring the exciting investment opportunities," remarked,  Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of SAIF Zone  and Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA),  in his presentation.

Al Mazrouei explained  SAIF Zone's role and the business opportunities in Sharjah. The presentation introduced   the state-of-the-art facilities of SAIF Zone, the various advantages it possesses and the different licenses provided which will help the investors to start their operations in the region.

"A visit to SAIF Zone and Sharjah  would help Portuguese businesses get closer to the many opportunities available here. With its excellent infrastructure and modern facilities, SAIF Zone is the ideal gateway for new business opportunities,"  Al Mazrouei noted while inviting Portuguese companies to Sharjah Airport Free Zone.

SAIF Zone is an ideal business hub where investors enjoy 100% foreign ownership, 100% repatriation of capital and profits, 100% exemption from income and corporate taxes and these qualities make it one of the best zones in the Middle East", he elaborated in his presentation.

SAIF Zone delegation   consisted of Raed Bukhatir, deputy commercial director and Wafa Balsawad, marketing manager.


He also highlighted SAIF Zone's strategic location as a door to Middle East and a platform for Asia and Africa complemented by the high quality logistics, road , airport and seaport infrastructures.

Currently over 500 Portuguese companies operate directly in the UAE market.

SAIF Zone delegation also met many key officials from Portuguese Industrial Association – Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AIP-CCI).

"This meeting was of much importance to us because we value our Portuguese  investors and firmly believe that SAIF Zone is the ideal Middle East hub for them" said Al Mazrouei.

"We are embarking on our next phase of expansion to meet the growing demand of investors and this event provided a wonderful opportunity for us," he  added.

Shurooq also participated in the road shows. Saud Al Suwaidi, Director of International Affairs  & partnerships and Mohamed Al Musharrakh, Head of Investment Promotion represented Shurooq in the events.
