​Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director General of Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF ZONE) and Hamriya Free Zone Authority (HFZA) recently visited Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co. Limited, a Godrej Group Company, at their office in SAIF ZONE.  Accompanied by a team of senior officials of the free zone, Mr. Al Mazrouei was received by Sumeet Baruah, Sr. General Manager, Head of Operations, Middle East & North Africa, Godrej & Boyce MFG Co Ltd, Godrej & Boyce. "It was a pleasure to welcome Mr. Al Mazrouei and the SAIF ZONE delegation into our office to hold talks on identifying and promoting possible B2B growth opportunities and cement our relationship with the free zone," said Mr. Baruah.

After exchanging pleasantries and wishing each other Eid greetings, they moved on to the main agenda of discussion to enhance B2B growth within SAIF ZONE, with the active support of the free zone. Godrej & Boyce also sought the support of the Marketing team of the free zto share lead generation strategies for enhancing more B2B opportunities within SAIF ZONE which could not only help other investors but also aid in the growth of the free zone.

During their discussions, Mr. Baruah also took the opportunity to thank the Director General and the Purchase Department of the free zone for considering the "long-standing request to register ourselves as a registered vendor besides being an investor."

Mr. Baruah also appreciated the significance of developing a SAIF ZONE app, and commented that keeping pace with the digital world would certainly help in improving business as well as regular operations.

During their discussions, Mr. Al Mazrouei also shared details of the current projects undertaken by the free zone and the new initiatives that are being developed by both SAIF ZONE and HFZA. Mr. Baruah elaborated on the Godrej Group Company and pointed out that it has had its presence in the UAE for the past 15 years. Three companies are registered within SAIF ZONE including Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., Godrej Global Mideast F.Z.E. and Godrej Infotech Limited. Founded in 1897 in India, the company started with the manufacture of high quality locks and has since diversified into Consumer Goods, Office and Industrial Products & Services, Infrastructure & Real Estate, he added. Mr. Baruah also invited Mr. Saud Al Mazrouei to visit the headquarters of the company in Mumbai, India.

The launch of Value Added Tax (VAT) in the six-nation GCC block in 2018 and its impact and process of compliance was also discussed by both the entities. Mr. Al Mazrouei was given a tour of the facilities of Godrej & Boyce including its office and warehouse premises. "We are thankful to the DG for his time and interest in our company and look forward to a better growth for both entities in the years to come," said Mr. Baruah on the conclusion of the visit.
