Advanced Armour Engineering..Small business with a big vision

Sharjah based AAE is a relatively new start up high tech engineering company Founded only 3 years ago in UAE , after only 1 year of trading the company made a big decision and some may say a risky decision for such a young company to relocate to Sharjah. The key reason in the decision making process was the view that the company could accelerate its growth and realise its ambitions easier in Sharjah, this was due to the fact that Sharjah was more business orientated to assist start ups to move forward to the next level and flap their wings should we say.

After much planning and consulting with the Sharjah authorities the move went ahead and thanks to the assistance of the people at Sharjah Airport International Free zone (SAIF ZONE) the move went quite seamlessly.

Director Simon Hurst states, "It was like a breath of fresh air. The guys at SAIF ZONE assisted us in every way possible to make the move as seamless as possible. The authorities helped quickly and efficiently also, they both seemed to be there to help of advise no matter what the time or day of the week it was"

The company quickly settled back into supplying is client base with high quality products and began to formulate its vision to grow the company and its brand to the global market. Further investments where made in some of the latest cutting edge equipment and also in training its staff. Hurst says, "We saw such a transformation in our staff since the move. Things seemed to run so much smoother that people had more time to focus on our real ambitions of growth and market recognition on an global basis. When we first arrived here 2 years ago, we had 20 people and turned over $2m dollars. We was predominantly servicing the local market and exported to only two other countries. The transformation in our first year to be honest was breath taking and way beyond our imagination. We increased the staff levels to 70 People and the turn over to more than $10m but the real transformation for us was our exposure to the export market. We took the export countries from 2 to 23!"

Was the move a good move? Hurst said "absolutely. The only thing i wish now looking back is we had started the business originally here. The transformation has been mind blowing to be honest. And we haven't finished yet. Our vision is only 20% of the way so a long way to go yet. We continually invest in equipment. Processes and People. We are proud to say we recently became ISO approved and also trained and certified all of our welders to one of the highest European standards. We are continually competing against some world class European engineering companies within our sector and winning work not just on competitiveness but more importantly on quality and technology.

I think we can firmly say the "Small business with a big Vision" from Sharjah is on the move!
